I am Not Like Prerna

Theatre's ‘Khoobsurat Bahu’, television’s much-loved bahu and mom, a divorce amidst controversies and now a judge on a reality show, Shweta Tiwari is not the one to look back. Life moves on and in her case, it moves ahead. Many cried as she cried on Kasuatii Zindagi Kay, then the Nach Baliye stint with ex-husband Raja, who left her on turbulent grounds, and now she is winning hearts again, as the judge of Aaja Mahi Vay (on Star Plus). In town to promote the reality dance show, Tiwari tells that judging is a “tough job. When I was a participant I wondered why I was unable to perform. Though I don’t approve of all the judges, now I know what it is to be in that chair.”


And before we could question her qualifications as a judge, she shoots,” I have never lost a dance contest in school or college. For the show I read books, watched serials, I have done my homework, you see! When I say something is right or wrong while judging, I know what I’m talking about.” So how’s the new look after Prerna? “That was not Prerna, the straight hair look is Shweta Tiwari look. There was no image setting for the role.” About the controversies regarding co-judge Ronit Roy she says, “He is the best to work with because he is very professional. After Kasautii, we are together judging and it’s great working with him. Differences of opinion are bound to occur but that’s that.” As for the future she has no plans, “All I want is to become a versatile actor,” she smiles.

Fame, tells Shweta, has not changed her, neither has divorce. “My daughter Palak is my life. I don’t want to react on things related to Raja because we are two different individuals. It was a bad phase that’s over now. I’m looking towards the future now.” The show, ironically promises a marriage to the winner couple. “Marriage is not an agreement but a promise. If a dance competition breaks your relationship, then it wasn’t worth it to begin with,” Tiwari has the last word.
